Sizing Concentrate Packaging
Concentrate jar sizing is driven by fill weight and product texture rather than by a single standard. The 5ml through 11ml range covers most gram and multi-gram concentrate formats, with headspace considerations differing between a stable shatter and a runnier sauce.
Glass remains the default for concentrates because it is chemically inert and does not interact with terpenes the way some plastics can over shelf life. Silicone containers serve a different role, generally for bulk handling and non-retail transfer rather than final consumer packaging.
Child-Resistant Closures Are a Tested Standard
A child-resistant lid is not child-resistant because it is stiff or requires a push-and-turn motion. It qualifies because the complete package has been tested against the CPSC protocol at 16 CFR 1700.20, using both a child panel and a senior-adult panel, and met specific pass rates.
That distinction matters at purchase time. A closure tested on one jar configuration does not automatically carry its certification to a different jar size or material. When you change a component, confirm the tested configuration still matches what you are shipping.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What sizes do your concentrate jars come in?
- We stock glass concentrate jars in 5ml, 7ml, 9ml, and 11ml, along with silicone containers, parchment and wax paper, and child-resistant lids. Contact us for bulk pricing and samples.
- Are child-resistant lids compliant in every state?
- Most states reference the same federal CPSC standard at 16 CFR 1700, so a properly tested closure meets the core requirement broadly. State rules on opacity, resealability, and labeling still vary, so verify your destination state's current rule before a launch.
